1916 Poetry

The 6th class took part in a creative writing workshop with Heather Brett as part of the commemorations of 1916. The fruits of their poetry was printed in a beautifully presented 1916 poster of Cavan’s Centenary Celebrarions. Congratulations to our 6th class pupils for  their tremendous work. Their teacher Ms.O’ Connor is very proud of their work. Her favourite poem written by 6th class is

Proclamation by 6th Class- St. Joseph’s N.S.

Smoke from the oil lamp wafts

through the room.

We sat, anxiously waiting for

the dawn.

All we could hear was pen

scratching on paper.

All of us are tired, days spent

Thinking and planning

and silently praying.
