Our school was honoured to be the first school for newly elected president Rosena Jordon to call to last Monday. Rosena is a Mayo native now living in Kingscourt. The staff of our school were delighted to get the opportunity to wish Rosena the very best in her new position as President of the Irish National Teachers Association. Rosena is an active member of our local GAA and has been Club Secretary for both Kingscourt Stars GAA club and Kingscourt Stars Ladies.
Some boys and girls from 5th and 6th classes were picked to attend the soccer 5 Aside in Cootehill last Thursday. The boys were runners up and were unlucky to be beaten in the last game. There were teams from school all around Cavan attending the event.. Thanks to the parents who drove the boys down to the pitch for the morning run. The bus brought the girls teams down as they were playing later than the boys and it brought the boys back to the school and returned to collect the girls. We had a great day. Thanks to our teachers Mrs. Rogers and Ms. O Connor.
We had a Science Fair on the 15th of April. It was great fun. We did lots of science experiments that explained what science is all about. We made lava lamps with vegetable oil food colouring and alcaselzer. We made volcanoes . We made corn flour slime. We looked at how candles need oxygen , fuel and heat . We stabbed potatoes with straws and when you put your finger on the top of the straw the straw went into the potato. We put an egg into salted water and it floated. We put the egg in fresh water and it sunk. Max figured out how old we are in days by coding. We had four classes Ms. Mc Geough, Ms. O Connor, Mrs. Boyle and Mrs Cunningham’s class who visited our Science Fair.
