Today we had the formal cutting of the ribbons on our two new Handball courts by Paul Brady. The work was carried out by Eamonn Clarke who at Kingscourt Iron works who put together the frame and to Billy O Connor  laid the foundations and also created our new yards. Thanks to Brendan Gargan Pauric Crosby, Peadar Ward Matt Kemp who all played a part in creating the  Handball walls. Thanks to John Kelly National director of GAA handball for coming from Dublin with  handball packs for our school.  The construction of these walls is a very solid and very comprehensive job. It will serve our school well as we hope next year to have more participants in the Cumann na  Bunscol Handball league and with leagues with neighbouring schools. Thanks to Paul Brady – World Champion handballer for his presence. He flew in from America last night. John began playing handball at 12 in St. Patrick’s College in Cavan . We hope to have someone from our school who will be inspired to follow his successful path in the future.

John Kelly spoke of Paul’s award among them  World Open Singles Crown for 4 years in a row and has been US handball champion 10 times over as well as having a stellar career as a football for Cavan where he played for 9 years winning 2 county U21 MEDALS , 3 Cavan SFC medals and a Senior League Medal in 2012 where he was Man of the Match.

This was followed by a handball exhibition kindly provided the Handball Club. Thanks to everyone involved in this success!
