The Green School award ceremony took place today in the Helix in Dublin City University today. There were 52 schools from around Leinster present. Mrs. Burns our green school coordinator , Mrs. Corbally and Megan and Michael representing the Green school Committee were presented with our 4th Green Flag and certificate. After the award ceremony all the schools received a lovely meal in the upstairs restaurant. We got out photos taken with Conor Craven from Cavan County Council. Conor asked us to pass on hearty congratulations to all the pupils and teachers and parents who helped over the last two years with the transport project. He complemented Mrs. Burns and the Green School Committee for their dedicated work promoting green transport – walking, striding and cycling to school and the Drop and Go system around our school. We look forward to raising our green school flag very soon!
Congratulations to the two 6th classes who have completed the Friends For Life Programme. They received their certificates at the Friends party. The pupils made book markers to remind them of the skills they have learned from the Friends Programme and as a reminder to put these skills into practice every day.

Schools Relay Competitions took place at Shercock Athletic Track on Thursday 14th May. We had 30 pupils taking part in the relays. Ms. Carroll organised trials with pupils in 2nd to 6th class to pick the teams. The pupils trained after school at O’ Raghallaigh Park. On Thursday the pupils and teachers Ms. Carroll and Mrs. Mc Loughlin headed off on the bus to Shercock. The expected rain stayed away and the the pupils had a most enjoyable day in Shercock. The Senior Girls’ team came 2nd winning silver medals and the Senior Boys’ team came 1st winning gold. Thanks to Ms. Carroll and Mrs. Mc Loughlin for supporting our teams. Well done to all who took part in the relays. We wish Jillian Farrelly a speedy recovery after her fall.
Our school has been awarded its 4th green school flag. We were awarded it from An Taisce after two years hard work. Our Green School Committee have worked really hard promoting our WOW days. On our first WOW day we had nearly everyone in the school walking to school. Lots of classes have won the Golden boot for having the most pupils walking to school. Mrs. Burns is the coordinator for our Green School Project. She is going to the Helix in Dublin on the 20th May to the Green Flag award ceremony. Our school will celebrate the raising of the 4th Green Flag soon.
